Richard Hall

Rich Hall is the President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Investment Officer at the University of Texas/Texas A&M University Investment Management Company (UTIMCO) which is the largest public university endowment in the United States. Rich joined UTIMCO from Harvard Management Company where was a Managing Director and served as the Head of Private Equity and a member of the firm’s Executive and Investment Committees. Prior to Harvard, Rich was the Head of Private Equity and a member of the Management Committee at the Teacher Retirement System of Texas. Prior to TRS, Rich had mergers & acquisitions related positions in industry and investment banking with Bank of America, Tomkins plc, Dell Ventures and Deutsche Banc Alex Brown. Rich served as an intelligence officer for six years in the U.S. Navy prior to earning his MBA from Northwestern University. He received his bachelor’s degree from Harvard. He has served as a board member and Vice Chairman of the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA). He has served as a board member and Vice Chairman of the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA) and was a member of the Asset Management Advisory Committee of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Joan Moeller

Joan Moeller is Senior Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer. Joan also serves as UTIMCO’s Corporate Secretary and Treasurer. She has oversight responsibility for the accounting, operations and reporting of the Investment Funds, the corporation’s accounting, information services and security. She has been employed at UTIMCO since its inception of March 1996 and its preceding entity, The University of Texas System Office of Asset Management.

Joan previously worked in public accounting for an international accounting firm. Joan received her BBA in Accounting from The University of Texas at Austin and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Tony Caruso

Tony Caruso joined UTIMCO in July 2018 and is a Managing Director on the Hedge Funds team. Tony is responsible for managing the endowment’s $9B Stable Value Hedge Fund portfolio, which consists of a collection of diversifying strategies that exhibit low beta to traditional risk assets. Prior to joining UTIMCO, Tony was in a similar role as Head of Non-Directional Strategies at Mesirow Advanced Strategies, a fund of hedge funds with peak assets of $14B.  Prior to Mesirow, Tony was a trader at Bridgewater Associates, a $160B hedge fund located in Westport, CT. At Bridgewater, Tony was responsible for managing the firm's fixed income trading activity, which included developed market rates, emerging market debt, corporate debt, and inflation-linked bonds. Prior to Bridgewater, Tony was a trader at Marquette Partners, a Chicago-based proprietary trading firm that was one of the leading market makers in futures and options. Tony received his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with a concentration in Analytic Finance, Econometrics, and Statistics. Tony graduated from Duke University in 2003 with a BS in Economics. Tony is also a CFA Charterholder.

Susan Chen

Susan Chen is a Senior Managing Director overseeing UTIMCO’s public equity investments in developed and emerging markets, as well as the strategic partnerships/tactical asset allocation portfolio. She is a member of UTIMCO’s Investment Committee and Leadership Team.

Prior to UTIMCO, Susan was a Managing Director at a $5 billion alternative investment firm affiliated with Highbridge Capital, where she was a portfolio manager and analyst for distressed debt, event-driven equity, private debt, and special asset investments. She started her career in investment banking at Merrill Lynch.

Susan earned her MBA, JD and AB in economics from Harvard. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees for St. David’s Foundation, on the Investment Committees for the Houston Endowment and the Capitol Area Council of Boy Scouts, and on the Advisory Board for Texas McCombs Investment Advisors (UT Austin student fund).

Carolina de Onis

Carolina de Onís is a Senior Managing Director, Chief Compliance Officer, and the General Counsel of UTIMCO. She is responsible for all legal and compliance matters and enterprise risk management for UTIMCO and serves on the Leadership Team and Investment Committee.

Prior to joining UTIMCO, Carolina served as General Counsel for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, the sixth largest public pension fund in the United States, for seven years. Carolina’s legal practice includes a strong litigation and regulatory background with extensive experience before both state and federal courts and agencies. She has approximately 25 years of experience on Wall Street and successfully navigated litigation and regulatory issues ensuing from the 2008 financial crisis. She has represented numerous large financial institutions throughout her career, including eight years with Barclays’ investment banking division and six years with Davis Polk & Wardwell, LLP, both in New York. She began her legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable Sam Sparks, United States District Judge for the Western District of Texas in Austin. She is an accomplished public speaker on a variety of topics, including fiduciary matters, governance, private investment funds, compliance matters, and securities litigation.

Carolina holds a BA in government and a JD, both from the University of Texas at Austin, and is a member of the Texas and New York bars. Carolina is a Fellow of the 2019 class of the Aspen Finance Leaders Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.

Gus Deering

Gus Deering is the Chief Technology Officer at the University of Texas/Texas A&M University Investment Management Company (UTIMCO) which is the largest public university endowment in the United States. Gus joined UTIMCO from United Services Automobile Association (USAA) where he provided executive leadership in technology architecture, application development, and infrastructure services. Gus has worked in information technology for 35 years with 20 years of executive leadership experience. Gus received his BS in Computer Science from Kansas Wesleyan University.  

Gary Hill

Gary Hill serves as Managing Director of the Operations, Accounting and Reporting team at UTIMCO and a member of the Leadership Team.  He has responsibility for all aspects of Operations, Accounting and Reporting for the Investment Funds under UTIMCO’s management.  He has been employed at UTIMCO since its inception in March 1996 and its preceding entity, The University of Texas System Office of Asset Management.  Prior to that he worked in various accounting, financial planning, and tax positions at a large public utility company. 

Gary received his Bachelor of Accountancy from New Mexico State University and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas.

Amanda Hopper

Amanda Hopper is a Managing Director on UTIMCO’s public equity investment team, as well as a member of the Leadership Team. Amanda’s primary responsibility is to manage the global portfolio of developed markets public equity investments.  Prior to her tenure at UTIMCO, Amanda served as a Senior Investment Associate in the Private Markets group for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas. She also spent three years at Chicago-based investment bank William Blair & Company, working as an Equity Research Associate in the health care services sector.  Amanda began her career in litigation consulting at Navigant Consulting and LECG Corporation, focusing on financial, valuation, and economic analyses in connection with legal disputes.  Amanda received a BBA in finance and marketing from the University of Michigan, and an MBA with honors, with concentrations in finance, entrepreneurship, and strategic management, from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Mukund Joshi

Mukund is a Managing Director of UTIMCO and serves on the Real Return Investment team and UTIMCO’s Leadership Team.  The Real Return Investment team makes investments across Real Estate, Natural Resources, and Infrastructure on a global basis.  Mukund joined UTIMCO in 2009.  Prior to UTIMCO, Mukund worked as an electrical engineer at Freescale Semiconductor.  He also worked as an ASIC designer at Compaq Computers (which later became Hewlett-Packard).  Mukund received an MBA from the University of Texas, an MS in Computer and Systems Engineering from the University of Houston, and a BE in Mechanical Engineering from Kuvempu University in India.  Mukund Joshi is a member of PREA and CFA charter holder.

J. Russell Kampfe

Russ Kampfe has over 35 years of fixed income market experience and more than 30 years of total return portfolio management experience.  He is responsible for fixed income portfolio strategy for UTIMCO’s internal bond portfolios, using econometric, technical and inter-market analysis to formulate views on interest rate movements and sector allocation. Russ also composes the mix of internal and external investment grade fixed income managers and is jointly responsible for oversight of the external managers. He is a member of UTIMCO’s Portfolio Management Team as well as the Investment Committee and Leadership Team, primarily providing input on economics and interest rates. Russ has experience trading fixed income, equity, commodity and currency derivatives as well. He has been employed at UTIMCO and its preceding entity, The University of Texas System Office of Asset Management, for over 35 years. Russ received his MBA and BBA from The University of Texas at Austin in 1988 and 1986 and is a past president of the Austin Investment Association.

Christine Khaw

Christine Khaw is Senior Director and Chief of Staff to Richard Hall, President CEO and CIO of UTIMCO. Prior to UTIMCO, Christine spent 13 years at Bain & Company, where she was an Associate Partner and worked closely with leading global Private Equity funds as well as large Technology companies. Christine earned her BSc in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. 

Edward Lewis

Edward serves as Senior Managing Director of Real Return Investments for UTIMCO where he oversees the endowments’ real estate and infrastructure portfolios. Edward is directly responsible for leading a team dedicated to sourcing and managing new and existing real estate, oil and gas, and infrastructure investments on a global basis. 

Edward is a member of the Internal Investment Committee, the Co-Investment Committee, and the Leadership Team. In addition, Edward serves on the Advisory Board of the Texas A&M University Master of Science in Finance program, Governing Board of the Robert Toigo Foundation, Board of Trustees for Saint Andrew's Episcopal School of Austin, and Executive Council of the Real Estate Center at the University of Texas. He is also a guest profession at the University of Texas at Austin.

Prior to joining UTIMCO, Edward worked at Jones Lang LaSalle (NYSE: JLL) in the Chicago and London offices where he focused on real estate advisory, valuation, and transaction services for real estate assets. Edward began his career as a civil engineer working on commercial and residential real estate development projects. Edward received an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BS in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University. 

Patrick Pace

Pat is Senior Managing Director and Head of Private Equity at UTIMCO.  In this role, he leads investments in Venture Capital, Leveraged Buyouts, and Private Credit, globally. He also serves on UTIMCO’s Leadership Team and Investment Committee.  Prior to UTIMCO, Pat’s investment experience included EDG Partners, Citadel, AIG, and UBS. Dr. Pace began his career as a resident in Otolaryngology (ENT) at the University of Virginia Hospital.

Pat serves on the board of Encision (ECIA) and as Chairman of Nanospectra Biosciences.  He participates on the Advisory Council for the UT-Health School of Biomedical Informatics and on the Investment Committee for the St. David’s Foundation.  He received a Bachelor of Arts, with Honors in Psychology, from Vanderbilt University and a Doctor of Medicine from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston.

Courtney Powers

Courtney Powers joined UTIMCO’s Hedge Fund group in 2007 and currently serves as Managing Director and Portfolio Manager responsible for the $7 Billion Directional Hedge Fund Portfolio and Chair of the Co-Investment Committee.  Prior to joining UTIMCO, Mr. Powers was a Senior Associate with SBC Communications/AT&T’s M&A and Corporate Development group and served three years as a Telecommunications Services equity analyst with Hibernia Southcoast Capital.  Mr. Powers holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and a BA from The University of Georgia. He serves on the Eanes ISD Long Range Facilities Planning Committee and is a member of the UT Austin MBA Advisory Board.

Alison Rogers-McCoy

Alison is Managing Director and Chief HR Officer and is responsible for leading the talent and human capital agenda. This includes the oversight and progression of all people policies, programs, and practices with a particular focus on recruitment, leadership and talent development, performance management and rewards and recognition. She joined UTIMCO in 2023 after seven years as the Chief HR Officer at Brandywine Global Investment Management, an affiliate of Franklin Templeton.  She has held senior level HR positions in the investment management, insurance and healthcare industries including Cigna Corp, American Express Financial Advisors/Ameriprise Financial, Aetna and Mass Mutual.  Alison earned an MA in Organizational Development and Consultation from Columbia University and a BA in Journalism from Fordham University. 

Ryan Ruebsahm

Ryan Ruebsahm serves as Senior Managing Director of UTIMCO’s Hedge Fund & Fixed Income team, overseeing three portfolios: $9B Stable Value Hedge Funds, $7B Directional Hedge Funds and $4B Fixed Income. Since joining in 2005, he has grown from leading the sourcing and due diligence of hedge fund investments to serving on UTIMCO’s Internal Investment Committee and Executive Committee. Mr. Ruebsahm began his career in the leveraged finance investment banking group of CIBC World Markets in New York where he completed $5 billion of debt financings across more than 20 transactions and was promoted to Associate. He received his MBA with honors from the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin where he served as a portfolio manager on the $13 million MBA Investment Fund, LLC, and his BBA from The University of Texas at Austin where he participated in the Financial Analyst Program and received the College Scholar honors designation.

Craig Thomas

Craig Thomas joined UTIMCO in September 2021 and is a Managing Director on the Private Equity team. Prior to joining UTIMCO, Craig worked at Investure, a $16B outsourced CIO based in Charlottesville, VA. Prior to Investure, Craig worked at Cogent Partners, a Dallas-based investment bank focused on the private equity secondary market. Craig earned an A.B. in history from Harvard College and an MBA from the Yale School of Management.

Uziel Yoeli

Uzi Yoeli is the Managing Director for Risk Management at the University of Texas/Texas A&M Investment Management Company (UTIMCO).  Uzi joined UTIMCO in 2004, and heads its Risk Management since 2006. Prior to UTIMCO, Uzi worked in high-tech.  Between 1987 and 2000 Uzi was with Chip Express, most recently as VP R&D, and has been awarded 15 patents. Before that, he was with Intel in software development (1982-1987).  Between 1977 and 1982 Uzi was with the Israeli Defense Forces, and holds the rank of a Major.

Born and raised in Israel, Uzi moved to Austin, Texas in 2000 to pursue a PhD in Finance. The PhD dissertation, titled “Asset Pricing in a Fragile Economy”, presents an innovative economic and financial model with rational agents, that successfully addresses many of the puzzles in the financial literature – e.g., the high equity premium relative to the actual risk, and the high and counter-cyclical volatility of stock prices relative to economic changes.  His B.Sc. is in Computer Science from the Technion, Israel’s Institute of Technology.
