Recently, researchers at UT Austin developed a new device for collecting and purifying water. Inspired by a rose, the flower-like structure removes any contamination from heavy metals & bacteria and the salt from seawater, which in-turn produces clean drinking water that meets standard requirements set by the World Health Organization.

At the Texas A&M College of Engineering, researchers have begun developing the first injectable bandage. Injectable hydrogels are promising materials for achieving hemostasis in case of internal injuries and bleeding, as these bio-materials can be introduced into a wound site using minimally invasive approaches.
